Unidentified Need

I feel like I need something.

I am not sure what it is though.

And of course the 'fat me' keeps telling me to eat chocolate because "It satisfied all my needs in the past".

Actually it didn't. It just stopped me working out what those needs were. If you eat enough chocolate for long enough you forget what it was you needed in the first place. The need is replaced by guilt and self loathing. The 'change' that was possibly needed is replaced by a need to get control of your eating.

This time I am determined to work out what it is I need.

Apologies for the self indulgent blog.

And I warn you I think best by writing so there may be more as I try to work this through without turning to chocolate.

good for you for trying to identify what it is without turning to chocolate, to me that's success!

well, I heard somewhere that if you identify what it is you are hoping the chocolate will make you feel like, that you can identify what your missing...
is it cozy, or comforted or excited?

This was me last night...all night I wanted "something", but wasn't sure what it was. I'm glad I didn't give into it though because I never figured out what it was I needed, so it would've been wasted calories if I'd eaten chocolate instead! Ha! Good luck figuring things out girl..

Yes its hard that chocolate craving. I can say I had some tonight! I shared it with someone. It always feels better to share a bit then to eat it all.

I believe that feeling is sometimes related to dehydration so keep up your water. Also pms plays a part for me so I have to mark it down so I know why Im craving and then I eat honey toast if needed. LOL
Maybe youre a bit bored or sad. Go and do something and then come back in a little while.
Thanks for writing, I like to read blogs now! haha

Hi Fiona. When you stop using food for purposes other than nutrition it can be really tough. I think you're doing brilliantly to sit it out! You have a great approach to this problem.

This blog is about you and your day to day.. you can be as self indulgent as you like. We all need to just get it out, and we're hear to root you on!!

Go girl! No apologies! Spill it all out and preach it. That's the way we find our way.

And chocolate is the worst frenemy of all. Sweet and alluring on the outside, but too much togetherness and the bitch turns on you.

You're strong enough to work through this without her. Trust me.

I think it is so good to identify a need and not turn to food. This is where the real work comes in. I look forward to hearing more...
