What tempts you?

I was responding to a post on WW when I realised something.

I don't go 'off track' because I am craving cake or chocolate or any specific food.

I am following WW, no food is banned. I have a generous points allowance and can fit a generous number of 'treats' in my day and week. I never feel deprived on WW.

What I crave is being 'off track'. I crave not counting points and weighing food and finding and choosing gluten free low point options. I crave not thinking about losing weight.

So I can sit here with 22 of my 26 point daily allowance still to be eaten and argue with myself about going off track. With 22 points I can eat 170gm of a cadbury's chocolate block. That is a large amount. So I can easily eat say 100gm (13 points) and still have 9 for lunch and dinner (my fave dinner is 5 points). There is NO reason to want to go off track.

But I want to.

When you want to go off track is it because of a specific food or just because you want to be 'off track'?

(I think I will add a poll if I can work out how!)

Oh, yes, absolutely - the idea of just eating whatever and not having to think and worry about what you are eating is definitely alluring.

I find that I go off track by allowing myself to get to a particular combination of things: hungry, tired, and lazy. Those three things just about definitely then point to going off track. Other than that I generally have no problem staying within my daily points!

What a good post. I always thought that I was tempted by food. Maybe it being tempted to be reckless and carefree for a moment??!!
I have thought that I will just keep on track. Emotions are like waves but my tracking will be consistent. At least then I can say it is on track. LOL

Great insight Fiona. One I've often thought of myself. For me it's about control - or maybe it USED to be about control as I haven't felt it this time - yet. I grew up in a super controlled environment. I don't even remember having a personality until I left home, although my school friends assured me I definitely had one at school.

Anyway, I've often thought that I hate others (WW, Jenny Craig, SureSlim, etc) being in control of what I eat, hence I've found it impossible to ever get to goal. But then, I'm now thinking that I could easily turn this thought around... No one else is in control... I am now totally in control because I CHOOSE to be in control and I CHOOSE to be slim and trim and fit and healthy.

Food for thought - excuse the pun (*_*)

the thing that makes me want to go off track are not food realted at all, it's a feeling.

A feeling of being normal, not having to count calories and have a feeling of freedom.

But that feeling last as long as the next gain on the scale, I know I have to be accountable and keep doing what I am doing to get the results I want.

Great post!

I know how you feel, and I often think that way. Sometimes it feels constricting to stick to points, andy ou want to break free - even though you CAN eat whatever you want (in moderation!) with WW, sometimes you just want to be FREE. Hard to really document it, isn't it?!

Very interesting question. I think it is craving being off track. Freedom from tracking, weighing etc.

I think some things are better for us, and some things are worse for us.
Track or no track.
Program, plan, etc.
Maybe it all works out for a higher good?
